Description of the path:
Go to Malga Tovre for a visit to the teaching farm and then climb up to La Montanara Refuge to enjoy an incomparable view of the Brenta Dolomites. It is an interesting walk from Andalo for active families.
From Dolomites plaza we head towards the Cadin farmstead, passing Piazza Centrale to take Via Crosare on the left to the crossroads (near the Cooperative) where we will find the signs to reach the La Montanara Refuge. At this point we follow the slight climb of the road towards Pradel, staying to the left after the business area. The path winds pleasantly through woods and fields to arrive shortly at Valbiole near a large parking area (it can also be reached by car - fee parking).
From the parking area, head straight up along the street that turns into a dirt road, to reach the Pineta cabin (rest stop possible). Keep to the right of the cabin head up to the path shortly after the old ski slope**
**If you have a stroller, it is best to turn left from the cabin and continue along the forest road to Pradel and then climb up to La Montanara Ref. using the small lift**
Continue along the ski slop that becomes increasingly steeper, turner left before the last and steepest segment along a dirt road that crosses the slope and shortly arrives at Malga Tovre and the teaching farm. Here we recommend a break to discover the ancient flavours and to visit the interesting educational farm.
The dirt road continues past the malga on the left, rising with a last segment and leads to the lift arrival point and from there to the La Montanara Refuge below where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the central chain of the Brenta Dolomites and other fabulous views of Molveno Lake.
You can return along the last segment, descending to Malga Tovre, then continuing along the ski slop to Pradel where you can take the dirt road to Pineta cabin, continuing along the forest road to return to Andalo for the climbing itinerary.
As an alternative, from Pradel you can descend with the Panoramic gondola to Molveno and then return to Andalo on the bus.
The itinerary can be shortened by driving from Andalo to Valbiole (fee parking) or taking the lifts the climb directly from Molveno to Pradel, crossing the last segment that leads from here to Malga Tovre and then to La Montanara Refuge.
You can also take a break at the Forest Park in Pradel (with paths of various difficulties for adults and children).
